Become a Global Insider Host: Create the Experience Only a Local Could Lead

Updated: Sep 30
Global Insider hosts are not simply local hosts, activity providers, or people who give travelers a few recommendations. We are building a global network of trusted locals who can create and lead complete destination experiences—showing travelers the places they came to see while opening the door to the culture, people, food, neighborhoods, and everyday life they would be unlikely to find on their own.
When you apply, we want to understand the trip you would actually create for a traveler in your destination. Your application should show us what several days with you could look like: where you would take them, what you would help them experience, how you would introduce your culture, and what makes your version of the destination different.

You are creating the experience
Global Insider is not handing every host the same script. The local person is the insider. You know your city, region, culture, transportation, rhythms, major sights, overlooked places, and the experiences worth making time for.
That means your application should propose a real, bookable experience. Think beyond one dinner or one activity. Build the journey you would be proud to host.
Tourist highlights still matter
Traveling like an insider does not mean avoiding the famous places. If someone travels across the world to your destination, they may absolutely want to see its major landmarks, historic sites, natural wonders, museums, markets, or iconic attractions.
A strong Global Insider experience can include those places. The difference is that the traveler experiences them with someone local who understands when to go, how to navigate them, what matters, what may be overrated, and what else belongs in the day.
We are looking for the balance: the destination people dreamed about seeing, plus the destination they could not have discovered from a search engine.

What a complete experience can include
Depending on your destination, your proposed experience might include airport arrival support, major attractions, neighborhood exploration, local transportation, markets, food experiences, cultural traditions, workshops, nature, nightlife, family-friendly activities, local businesses, craftspeople, community spaces, day trips, or simply the places where everyday life happens.
Not every host needs to offer the same things. Your experience should make sense for your location and for what you genuinely know.
You are the local connection throughout the trip
The host relationship is one of the biggest differences between Global Insider and booking a collection of separate tours. Travelers are not meeting a different guide for every activity and starting over each day. They have a local point of connection during the experience.
That can mean helping them understand transportation, timing, customs, neighborhoods, language, local etiquette, changes in plans, and the small questions that inevitably come up in an unfamiliar place. It also means knowing when to give travelers independence and personal space.
The goal is not to control someone's vacation. It is to make a foreign destination feel easier to understand and far more connected.

What we want to see in your application
Show us your destination through your eyes. Tell us the length of the experience you want to offer, the places and activities you would include, what is included in the price, what may cost extra, how travelers will get around, what parts you personally host, and what makes the experience culturally meaningful.
Be specific. 'I will show travelers my city' tells us very little. A thoughtful day-by-day concept tells us how you think as a host.
We also want to know about you: your connection to the destination, languages, experience with travelers or guests, availability, local knowledge, interests, and the kind of traveler you believe would enjoy your experience.
You do not need to be a traditional tour guide
Some Global Insider hosts may have professional tourism experience. Others may be exceptional locals with deep knowledge, strong communication skills, reliability, curiosity, and a genuine ability to make people feel welcome.
Where local law requires a licensed guide, driver, operator, permit, or other professional for a particular activity, the experience must respect those requirements. Being a Global Insider host does not replace locally required credentials.

What makes a strong Global Insider host
We look for people who are dependable, communicative, culturally respectful, comfortable meeting travelers from different backgrounds, knowledgeable about their destination, realistic about logistics, and excited to create something more thoughtful than a standard package.
We also look for judgment. A great host knows that the best experience is not always the busiest itinerary. They understand timing, safety, rest, flexibility, and how to read the traveler in front of them.
Your experience should feel like your destination not a template
A Global Insider experience in Cappadocia should not feel like one in Zanzibar, Marrakech, Opole, Kingston, Luxor, or Edinburgh with the names changed. The differences are the point.
Your culture, geography, community, food, history, personality, and local relationships should shape what you submit. We want experiences travelers could not simply duplicate by opening a generic itinerary.

Think: if someone trusted you with several days, what would you show them?
Where would you take someone you cared about? Which famous places are genuinely worth seeing? Where would you eat? What would you explain that outsiders usually misunderstand? Which local experience would make them say, 'I never would have found this on my own'?
That is the experience we want you to build.
Ready to become a Global Insider?
Submit the full experience you want to offer not just the fact that you would like to host. Give us enough detail to understand what a traveler would actually experience with you from arrival through the days you spend together.
If your destination is not currently represented, that does not automatically exclude you. Global Insider is designed to grow through strong local people and strong local experiences around the world.
Bring us your place as you actually know it: the landmarks, the local life, the practical knowledge, the unexpected moments, and the human connection between them. That is what makes someone a Global Insider.
